Hello!
My name is Ahti Pokkinen, and I am a 20-year-old university student from Turku (Åbo in Swedish).
I am currently studying the Study Programme in Business and Economics for a bachelor's degree at the Åbo Akademi University. I major in economics and minor in sustainability studies.
I chose this course because I would want to learn more about sustainability although I already have a good basic knowledge of it due to my minor subject. Another reason was that I wanted to improve my skills in English both spoken and written. And of course, I see this course as a good opportunity to get contacts from different countries and maybe learn something about each other’s cultures and study programmes.
Three things that I love about Finland are:
- Equality: Everyone is equal no matter what.
- Clean water: You can not only drink tap water in Finland but also swim in natural lakes. We have over 100,000 lakes in Finland.
- Education: I think that the Finnish education system is great because it's mainly free. My studies at university are basically free thus the student lunch does cost – but only 2,95€.
A fun fact about me is that I love to sing karaoke - and would some day want to work part-time as a karaoke host.
