Hello everyone!
My name is Martin Stránský and I'm 26. I've spent last semester on my Erasmus stay in Denmark (at the SDU in Odense) and I've decided to participate in this course because I would like to have some English course during the spring semester and as I would like to stay in touch with people from abroad I consider this a meaningful combination of both. I have also coincidentally taken a "Sustainability Development" course in Denmark which might come in handy, too.
At my home university in Czechia I study Cybernetics (there has been an divergent development on the western and eastern side of the Iron Curtain and considering my Erasmus experience as well, you probably haven't come across the term so I'll save myself some time and recommend to check the link if interested ;-) ). My sub-specialisation is "Artificial inteligence and automation".
As for my home country, Czechia (it is the official short name for the Czech Republic - I prefer to use that since we don't use "the Republic of Finland" or "Switzerland Confederacy", I'm not keen on about ensuring all people in the conversation we are a republic all the time), even though it has many flaws, I like it. I am glad we are in the middle of Europe, the nature is very diverse and quite nice, the weather not too ugly nor too hot and there's quite a lot of history to see, as well.
It seems I'm also expected to share some fun facts about me but I'm afraid a not-that-intesting practical facts about me will have to be enough for now: I'm rather a night owl and some consider me sort of jack of all trades. I hope we will all enjoy this course.
