  • recognise their own cultural identities and build an appreciation for others (personal, social and cultural identities)
  • reflect on major cultural frameworks
  • understand and formulate ways how culture affects communications
  • identify specifics of online intercultural communication
  • come up with tips for effective cross-cultural communications: how to become adaptable in intercultural interactions (include  experience from the course and suggest practical solutions)

2. Activities

All activities are reflected in the learning diary

Before checkpoint 1: 

  • Reflect on your own cultural identity based on the frameworks. 
  • Listen to Ted Talks video

Before checkpoint 2: 

  • Think about your own role in team work and the influence of communicative styles on reaching the common goals. 

Before checkpoint 3: 

(an integrated task, same as in Topic 2)

    • Find the company netiquette of your own organisation (or other), and discuss the importance of netiquette and ethical aspects.
  • Discuss all the above aspects from the points of view of:
    • personal /professional identity,
    • organizational culture,
    • work time/free time in virtual teamwork.
